The Toronto Vegetarian Food Bank (TVFB) is a volunteer-powered charity that provides nutritious, environmentally-responsible and cruelty-free food to vegetarians and vegans in need. People often lead a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle for health reasons and/or for ethical reasons such as stopping animal cruelty and helping the environment.
Fresh plant foods such as fruits and veggies are an essential part of a healthy diet yet they are scarce at food banks, leaving very few options for vegetarians and vegans in need. TVFB was established to help vegetarians and vegans living below the poverty line, so that they don’t have to compromise on their health or values. Fresh fruits and veggies make up at least 50% of the food bank’s offering. Any perishable foods left over when their food bank closes are given to their partners at the Yonge Street Mission, ensuring that nothing goes to waste!
If you’ve purchased any of The Breakfast Pantry glass canisters then you’ve already helped- $1 from each canister goes to the Toronto Vegetarian Food Bank.
