FAQs

All of our food products are organic. We do carry a few brands that are not Certified Organic, but use organically sourced ingredients- this is because these brands work with small-scale partner communities and undergoing organic certification is not always feasible for them. We disclose on each product page whether a product is Certified Organic or not.

Yes, all of our products are GMO free. In fact, all organic products are GMO free!

Yes, all of our products are vegan!

A majority of our products are naturally gluten-free. Not all of our products are Certified Gluten-Free though, meaning they may have been produced in a non gluten-free facility. If you have a gluten allergy, please be sure to check the product information before ordering (we disclose on each product page whether a product is Certified Gluten-Free or naturally gluten-free).

“Organic” refers to the way agricultural products are grown and processed. Organic foods are grown without the use of chemicals, synthetic pesticides, sewage sludge, fertilizers, genetically modified organisms, bioengineering or ionizing radiation. Overtime, the toxins used in conventional farming can have negative affects on our health.

Organic farming creates healthy soil, which produces more nutrient dense foods- organic foods have been found to contain more beneficial nutrients, such as antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, than their conventionally-grown counterparts.

Organic farming is also great for our environment- it reduces pollution, conserves water, reduces soil erosion, increases soil fertility and uses less energy. Farming without pesticides is better for nearby animals and people living close to farms. Overall, buying organic foods is good for us and our planet.

There are various factors contributing to the costs of organic foods, but to name a few:

● The organic food supply is far more limited than the conventional food supply.

● Organic farming is more labor and management intensive.

● Receiving organic certification is expensive for many growers and handlers.

● Organic foods cost more to ship since they must be segregated from conventional food items.

● Organic farms are usually smaller than conventional farms and therefore do not benefit from the economics of scale that large growers receive.

A plant-based diet is a diet consisting mostly, or entirely, of foods derived from plant-based sources. This includes vegetables, fruits, grains, seeds, nuts and legumes. A plant-based diet encourages the consumption of more whole foods, and minimal processed foods. Eating plant-based does not categorize you as vegetarian or vegan- it means you are proportionately choosing more of your foods from plant sources.

We are all about starting the day with a nutritious breakfast, and we believe that the most nourishing, energizing and delicious breakfast foods come from the Earth. Plants are a rich source of many nutrients, such as unsaturated fats, vitamins, minerals, fiber and protein, that are important for maintaining good health. Eating plant-based is also great for our environment- it helps conserve water, save animal and plant habitats and reduce your carbon footprint (plant-based diets are associated with the greatest reductions in greenhouse gas emissions).
